Sitting in my room

Dust gathers on my dresser

I hope to see the sun


Cleaning comes to mind

but is quickly shut down by my inner perfectionist

I hope to see the sun


Turning to see my TV screen

Characters come to life

I hope to see the sun


Hoping to be like them

A contrast begins

I hope to see the sun


Looking down at my laptop

Headlines cause tears

I hope to see the sun


Hearing my friends bicker

My ears implode from the volume

I hope to see the sun


Staring at my own reflection

Voices start to surface

I hope to see the sun


Trying to better myself

Doesn't quiet them

I hope to see the sun


Holding off on responsibilities

My burdens double

I hope to see the sun


Trying to sleep through it all

Breathless panic keeps me awake

I hope to see the sun

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
