Music is a key part of our lives. It is in our cars, radios, speakers and phones. To put it simply, music is everywhere! While everyone seems to partake in music on some scale, few seem to actually give it the credit it truly deserves.

Music is great because it is easily accessible. I don't know a single person who doesn't have access to music in some shape or form. Just take a look at a college campus. At Hartwick College, practically everyone has a subscription to a music streaming service. If they don't, there is no need to fret as sites, such as YouTube, offer an easy and free way to view music. Plus, the radio is a great place to become exposed to music. The college's station WRHO offers playlists that are in touch with current trends and unique tastes for students and faculty to enjoy.

Not only is music physically accessible, but mentally as well. Music caters to any mood people have, along with any genre known to man. Whether you want to cry, laugh, smile or break a wall (not recommended), music can take you there. The beauty of the art is that it can manage to encapsulate any emotion regardless of how broad or specific it is. The intention behind songs is important but sometimes irrelevant. Everyone interprets ideas and emotions differently. A serious song to some can be perceived as a party jam to others.

With such a wide range of emotions to cover, music also covers a wide range of genres. Similar to Rule 34 of the internet (which I won't get into here), if you've thought of it, chances are that there is a genre of music for it. Some people, like myself, love hip-hop while others adore country, horror-core, reggae, classical, heavy metal, jazz, etc. Regardless of what you prefer, everything is out there. There is an endless amount of music from a practically endless list of genres to explore and discover. Some of it is certainly more grounded than other genres however, it should all be embraced with a warming listen because there are plenty of fish in the sea and plenty of tunes for your speakers.

The last thing I've noticed about music is the most controversial, and that's why I love it. People love to hate on music they don't like. It's very hard for everyone to simply be happy with their own musical preference along with everyone else's. You know what? That is completely fine. The best, and I mean the very best, thing about music is that it is subjective. Nobody has a good taste or a bad taste in music. No matter how much someone may tell you that liking Nickleback makes you a horrible person, or jamming to Taylor Swift makes you tone-deaf, just remember one thing, it's okay.

So, get out there! Listen to what you want and love it! Don't forget to truly appreciate how awesome and important music can really be. Personally, I believe music is a vital part of my life that extends way past my enjoyment of a few different tracks. It is part of who I am. So here's to you music, never stop being fantastic!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
