Let me start by saying, I am so sick of people saying "I don't like my options, so I'm not voting this year." Or they make up some lame excuse to not go out and vote in November. Look, in today's time, if you have health issues or if your job does not let you have time off, there are still ways to vote. What surprises me even more is that I hear these excuses, not from the millennials as one would expect, no, I hear it most from people in the X generation. That is right, the same generation that says millennials don't care about government or that millennials don't have a clue about what is going on. I hate to break it to you but I see more millennials who understand their government better than the X generation.
Now don't get me wrong, I understand you have a constitutional right not to vote, however, I just cant get passed the fact that our ancestors fought for your right to vote. One step further, if you are in the minority or even a female, our ancestors fought long and hard just to give you a right you choose to waste. Females have only been given this sacred right within the last 100 years, which in reality is not that long.
You have properly heard it before but it is definitely worth the repeat. You cannot complain about your government if you do not try to make the change and the easiest way to make change is to go to the polls. This one drives me insane: people will say crude things about their government but when I ask them if they went and voted in the last election, they give me some generic excuse as to why they chose not to. I have no problem with you complaining about the government as long as you tried to do something about it. Come on guys, they even give you a fancy little sticker for casting your vote.
Another overused excuse would be that, "it does not impact me so why should I vote." Oh my gosh, this is so far from the truth that it is silly. You are the future of this county. Eventually, our parents and their parents will pass on and we will be left with whatever condition our parents and their parents tend to leave the government in. So it does impact you and just like we are left with our parents mess our kids will be left with our mess, unless we do something about it now. so if you choose not to do it for your own benefit do it for the benefit of future generations.
many people believe that their vote does not count but with the election this year being so close your vote does count!! this year the election is so close we cannot afford to loose possible votes.
so with that being said lets go make our voices heard! hopefully i will see you at the polls!
