To Those Who Can Vote In November

Think of those who can't let their voices be heard yet.

If you have been paying attention to anything in the past 4 years, you know that this election is the most important and crucial one in history. The scary thing is, either way, blue or red, we are facing two evils.

-The orange man who doesn't know when to stop talking or be kind

-The old pedophile with a bad memory

Now as you know, once you are eighteen, you are legally able to vote. But until then, you are to sit back, be quiet, and let everyone else decide your future for you.

America needs so much healing. While trying to bring people to equality, we have just divided everyone more than ever. Between all the movements such as BLM, ACAB, MAGA, FLATTENTHECURVE, and so many more, all of them stem from hate. You can't start a movement so big with hate and expect a positive outcome. It just doesn't work that way.

When November rolls along and it is time to circle in a ballot, remember how important which circle you fill in really is. If you are older and are looking for good retirement benefits, okay. That's understandable. But, while you are on a cruise ship in another country with all your money, is your grandkid getting a good education? Does your grandkid feel safe riding their bike on their block?

How does the foster care system work? Are you going to try and protect those kids? Or are you going to pretend that these kids aren't being placed in very unsafe environments in homes where love is non-existent?

Maybe you are in college, still new to voting. Maybe it is your first time. In all honesty, you probably already have your mind made up on your vote. Have you thought about how whoever you vote for will be able to either help you pay for your education or drown you in debt? Once you graduate, are you going to be able to go into the real real world and be prepared? On another note, do you have younger siblings? The person you vote for will be in charge of your sibling's school food, budgets for sports or theatre, whether or not they can go to the doctor at an affordable cost.

Perhaps you're a parent. A parent to kids who isn't eighteen. Are you voting for someone who protects your income and your children?

This year's election is the scariest yet. From ages 0-17 you don't get a choice. Try to remember what that was like, but with the world, we are living in now.

Our education, safety, and future are at stake.

So when you go in to vote this November, speak for us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
