ABC News

Let me start with first saying, I'm not a very political person. I've never had a fascination with the subject, I read articles here and there, but I typically avoid the conversations. I'd rather stay neutral. This election has been filled with so much hate, how can one bear all of it for so long? But what I have always stood for, is our rights, Women's rights in particular. We are equals, we have rights, and have no right to be belittled or regarded as less.

Now that the Inauguration has come, the people have taken their rise. Today we saw the Women's Marches, in New York, Washington D.C., and around the country, even the world. There is a lot of voices speaking, some showing violence, but yet, there is a sign of love. Women and men have taken to the streets, parading and uniting to stand for what we've been fighting for, for decades. To think we are in a place where again, we march to have our voices heard. History repeats itself, again to push for change. People of all kinds, coming together to support our rights, that we are humans.

I wasn't able to attend a march or to watch in person, but I followed social media, I watched the subways filled with signs and people on their way. I prayed for the safety of all the women fighting to share their voices, to walk down the streets and take a stand. That this will be the mark in history not only known as an event but what lead to a change in our society. I walked onto the ferry this morning with first seeing a woman speaking with a sign saying "not my president" and crowds of pink hats and signs piling in. As I waited for the train even more walked by. It felt empowering to watch the amount of people supporting a cause as large as this.

We have the right to fight for our rights, We did it before in the Suffrage Movement, and we continue it today. I wasn't there to march, but I stand with my fellow women in fighting for those rights. Until today, I've believed our rights matter, and we are equals. Now, I know we are strong and will make the difference we need. The future is in our hands TODAY.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
