Dear Mom,
We have been through our disappointments in life and you have always been there for me, every step of the way. I know my siblings will think I am vying for the favorite-child spot, but that's not important right now (mostly because we know I already have it).
My mom has always supported me, through thick and thin, in my life. She even stood by me when I changed my major to education and, trust me, that was a mistake. She always encourages me to be the best version possible of myself and never lets me slack when she knows what I could accomplish. Not only has she been my biggest fan, but she also is an inspiration. At 50 years old, she decided to quit her job that she had for basically 20 years to follow her dream and do something that she loved. I hope that one day I can show this much courage in my life and not be afraid to follow my dreams, even when it seems scary or impossible.
She has taught me so much and shaped me into the person I am today. She has always been so strong and stood up for herself, at all costs. She handles everything with such grace and tact that it almost does not even seem humanly possible sometimes. She has also taught me how to handle all of the tough situations in my life and I try to do so, with the same carefulness that she would use. Through everything that we have had to deal with so far in our lives, she has remained constantly by me, always ready to give a helping hand.
My love and passion for so many things has been shaped by my mother. I would not be the person before you without her encouraging words and loving heart. She has taught me what it truly means to be a good person. She is always giving and one of her favorite ways is through community service and has often dragged me along with her. Only as I got older, she didn't have to drag me as much, because I wanted to go and there is nothing better than having your mom teach you such a great habit.
Mom, even though we don't talk as much as we should, or see each other that much since I moved out I still know that you are there for me. I just want to thank you for all that you have taught me so far in my life and I hope you know that I did take it to heart and I appreciate your advice. Don't get me wrong, I will and I have made mistakes that you have warned me about because nobody is perfect, but I am still learning and I try every day to live my life like you.
Love,
Your Child
