To The People Pleasers: You Can’t Please Everyone

Because your happiness is the one that matters in the end

If you’re anything like me, you care way too much what people think of you. You always want to please people and make them happy before you make yourself happy. It doesn’t even happen in certain situations. It happens in multiple everyday situations. Picking out an outfit, going out with a guy, meeting new friends, the list can go on and on. You ask and ask everyone's opinions and then listen. Even if their answer or their opinion is not what you want to hear you continue to listen. If their answer doesn’t make you happy you still continue to listen because that is who you are and you want to make people happy.

It is time to stop. Stop letting people control your happiness. I have let people control how I live my life and who I hang out with and who I date. It is not fair to let other people control your life. If you are doing something that makes you happy then continue to do it. Stop trying to please these people because at the end of the day they never will be fully pleased with you. You will always work and work to please someone, but what are you getting out of it? Honestly, think about it what are you getting out of letting other people make your decisions?

The people who are giving you all of their advice may be genuinely looking out for you when they tell you their opinion or what they want you to do. However, the people who truly do love you and care about you will be happy when you are happy. They may give you their opinion, but if you follow your head and heart and listen to yourself and no one else that is all that matters. It is time to make your own decisions based on your happiness. Do not let people create your own happiness for you and do not let people live your life for you. If they aren’t happy with your choice and your happiness, they truly do not love or care about you.

So next time you ask the opinion of someone else feel free to listen to what they say. Take it all in and listen. But in the end, when it is time to make YOUR own decision, do what you want. Make yourself happy. Because in the real world you can’t please everyone and at the end of the day your happiness should be all that matters.
