If you're anything like me, you plan everything, and by everything I really mean everything, from the time you'll eat breakfast to what you're going to wear, when you'll go to the store, what time you'll go to sleep and everything in between. Your planner is your best friend, and you honestly might have a heart attack if you ever lost it. Last minute plans are not your favorite and if everything doesn't go exactly as it should, you panic.
While you may not plan all the little things in your life, everyone plans for something. If you want to be a doctor, you plan to go to college, then medical school, and then become a doctor. You plan when you'll get married, how many kids you want to have, and ultimately what you want out of life.
So, what happens when these things don't go according to plan?
You see, you can plan all you want and be as proactive as you can, but let's face it, life does not always go according to plan. Maybe you failed that class you needed to get into medical school, or maybe the guy you thought you would marry dumps you. Trust me, I know how it feels. It feels like your world is falling apart completely, but in reality, everything is just falling into place.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.'"
No matter how hard you try in life, you can't control everything that happens to you. The good thing is that there is someone out there who has total control. That someone is God. From the day we were born, he has had our lives planned out in every detail, so we don't have to worry. What a relief that is to think that we don't have to have everything go to our plan, because God knows exactly what is best for us.
Now I know it still sucks when you fail that test you studied hours for, or when it just doesn't work out with that person you thought you were in love with. I know how hard it is to trust in God's plan when you feel like nothing is going right for you, but you have to keep faith, because better things are coming even though you may not see it at that time.
Once you trust in God's plan, you will see that His plan for us is better than we could have ever imagined.
