I am so thrilled for the day that my little brother brings you home. I haven’t met you yet, and he hasn’t either, but I know that day will be special. Experiencing childhood alongside my brother was rough at times. We fought, and argued, and screamed at each other on occasion, but I wouldn’t trade him for the world.
When we were young, I really wouldn’t consider us friends, more like frenemies. But now, my brother and I are such good friends. We enjoy each other’s’ company, bounce ideas off one another, and share a few secrets with one another that Mom and Dad don’t get to know about.
He brings laughter into my life and keeps me entertained. He’s told me numerous times that “that guy isn’t worth your time,” and is a good reminder of what a man of God looks like. He opens the door for me, drives me places, and even (sometimes) shares his food with me. And I know he will do the same for you.
If you don’t understand football, girl, you better learn to love it. If you don’t like watching church basketball, you might want to start learning to enjoy it. Not a fan of sleeping past noon? Well, my brother sure is, so maybe you will grow accustomed to that as well.
When you go out to eat, do yourself a favor and sit to his right. That boy is a Lefty and will knock you with his chicken wing of an arm with every bite he takes. Can’t finish your meal? No worries, he will gladly help you with that. Heck, he’ll help you clear your plate even if you don’t ask him to. But he is so generous and wouldn’t hesitate giving you the last bite of anything he had if you really wanted it.
He thinks of others, and it is evident in his life. He will put you first and you will be able to recognize Christ in him so easily. My brother displays so many characteristics that are rare in guys nowadays, so know that you are one lucky girl.
The hard realization is that one day you will become all the things for him that I am now: his friend, confidant, and biggest cheerleader. However, I will always be his big sister and he will always be my little brother.
You love a boy who is genuine and raw, and in a rare moment when he decides to share his heart, you will learn more about him than you thought possible. Cherish those moments, because they are few and far between.
I pray that you will love Jesus more than you love my brother. Encourage him, love him, and respect him, but most importantly point him to our Savior. I know that you will be wonderful and I am so excited to share embarrassing stories about him with you.
Love,
Your Future Sister
