To Whom It May Concern,
Facebook is great, it really is, but it is easy to understand why some people hate it. It seems like a total invasion of privacy, but you're in control of what you post. Though you are not in control of who decides to friend request you. There's nothing more annoying than logging on to Facebook and seeing Ten-plus requests from complete strangers double my age.
Although I'm sure you're lovely in your own way, I would really prefer not to video chat with a stranger, so please stop calling me via messenger. Are you sick of people not answering you? Perhaps you should stop messaging random people, then act aggressively when they don't answer.
Thankfully, we are no longer living in 2008, which means technology has evolved. There are specific apps and websites for dating such as Tinder, Bumble, and Plenty Of Fish, which means now you can swipe right on someone your age, instead of harassing the girl with braces who looks "mature for her age" via messenger.
Now, The intent of this article is not to scream, "I'm a woman and I'm targeted by creepy men." rather, to bring attention to an issue that most people see as a joke or a normal part of life. By no means, is it appropriate to repeatedly message someone you have never met. If they don't answer you, that's their right. Being ignored is a bad feeling, but it's also a red flag. Messaging someone "Did I do something wrong" when they don't answer you is the equivalent of knocking on someone's front door when they pretend they aren't home. In translation, you know they aren't going to answer. With this being said, it isn't that you're unlikeable, rather that you're targeting the wrong people. Yes, Facebook is full of beautiful women and handsome men, but if you don't know them in real life, but get aggressive when they don't answer, you should probably take a break from social media.
