To The Dreamers

Dream, and dream big.

Every person, I believe, holds a dream close to their heart. Anywhere from finding the cure for cancer, to teaching in an elementary school, to writing songs or stories that inspire, I believe that we are all hard wired to create. To imagine. To long for more. We are dreamers by nature, but dreaming does not come easy, and I myself have wanted to give up so many times. For every goal I have set, for every dream I've had, for every wish I've whispered and every hope I've had...at times it has seemed like as soon as it begins to become something, the set backs start to roll in. It's tough. Dreaming comes with a whole host of emotions: excitement, wonder, fear, worry, joy, sadness, and victory. It's a wild ride through all of these. Through it all you may want to throw in the proverbial towel, but please, before you do...hear me out.

Dreamers, wishers, hopers, believers, to the ones who lay awake at midnight thinking and praying-- don't you dare give up. Do. Not. Give. Up.

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." Harriet Tubman

I know it's kind of terrifying at times. Actually, it can be really scary. But don't let fear fool you; keep on charging ahead. I know, It's disheartening knowing that there may be people who don't care enough about your dream to believe in it. But I promise you, there is One who believes in you, believes in your dreams and is standing beside you like the Good Father he is, picking you up, brushing you off and pushing you to get back up again. Where do you think we got the urge to dream from in the first place? The ultimate dreamer Himself. The one who thought up color; the shades of pink that light up your cheeks when you smile, the flecks of gold in your eyes, the brilliant blue of oceans and elegant greens that cloak mountain ranges in summer time. The dreamer who spun galaxies upon galaxies out of his finger tips, and robed the night sky in twinkling wonders that we call stars; the one who spoke and made us living breathing beings--it all began as a dream in His mind. Please know He is ushering you to keep your dream alive. It's not "too big" or "too hard." Place your plans in the hands of the ultimate dreamer, and watch as he sculpts and shapes and makes them so much more. Watch as your dreams begin to come alive and take on an identity all their own.

People will still doubt. Many will see your hard work and the way your eyes light up at the mention of your passion and they will laugh. They might try to break your dream to bits and pieces but only because they dreamed too small. When they did find the courage to dream, they hit a roadblock and instead of pressing on, they listened to the critics and caved in. Please, please remember though, that the only one who can stop the dream is you.

Dream and dream big. If it seems impossible, that's okay. Impossible isn't a death sentence...it's the word you'll use to proclaim your victory when you achieve. "I overcame the impossible. I conquered the insurmountable."

Live your life wide-eyed and in wonder, daydreaming and chasing those dreams down. Embrace a childlikeness that believes that anything is possible. I guarantee you, you'll begin to see those imposing impossibilities come crumbling down. So all you wishers, hopers and dreamers of far flung dreams...keep it up.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
