To my cousin,

Some people say that family is where life begins, and life never ends. And they could never be more true. No matter what happens in this crazy life, I know you will always be there, and I can always count on you as a forever friend. (I mean... we're related, so you're technically stuck with me forever anyways). But I feel like I don't say it nearly enough, so I just wanted to take the chance to thank you for being an overall amazing human being, and always being there for me through this crazy life.

1. Thank you for filling me in on all the gossip.

We all need some good entertainment from time to time, and sometimes we just need someone to listen to all our latest gossip. I mean it's what we're known for right?

2. Thank you for listening to me.

And I am not just talking about me endlessly ranting, but truly listening and doing everything in your power to help me in whatever ways you can. You're there when I feel like I have no one else to go to, and whether we talk every day or once a month, I know I can count on you as a listening ear no matter what.

3. Thank you for understanding me.

Because honestly, you probably know me better than I even know myself. We're family, and I'm not sure if it has to do with how close we were growing up, but you never fail to understand my thinking or how I act. I never have to feel alone, you just get me.

4. Thank you for your honesty.

No matter what the situation, I know you will tell me the truth no matter how brutal or how much it'll hurt me. Yes, that means we've disagreed from time to time, but I am grateful for that because sometimes the hardest things to say are what we need to hear the most.

5. Thank you for putting up with me.

Because we both know that I can be annoying sometimes and sometimes could just use some duct tape across my mouth. But you never failed to be there for me, and you always were there with an open heart.

6. Thank you for acting like a complete weirdo with me.

Whether it's just a hour long jam session in the car or just acting like complete idiots in target at 11pm, I know I can always count on you for a good laugh; and I will never feel alone in my crazy antics.

7. Thank you for caring.

You've always had my best interest at heart. You've watched me make mistakes and get a little too emotional at times, and better yet were still there to be my shoulder to cry on. You've always been there to pick me up when I was broken and I can always count on you for a good cuddle/movie night session when I've had a bad day.

8. Thank you for being you!

Honestly, you're a beautiful soul who has taught me so much about life. And I am so grateful to have a cousin and best friend as great as you in this life. You've shown me every day what it's like to have a true friend and why you can always count on family. And through the good times and the bad, you have made me so proud to call you family. Through the laughs, the tears, the happiness and the anger, we've always had each others backs.

I love you so much. I am who I am because of you. And I hope you know, that no matter what I will always be here for you, just like you've always been there for me. Thank you.

Love,

Your Cousin, xoxo

P.S. I know I'm the favorite cousin, but don't worry I won't tell.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
