Dear Peter Pan,
It confuses me that you have decided never to grow up. I didn’t know that never growing up meant not ever being able to be civil or kind.
Peter Pan is supposed to be an always happy-go-lucky kind of guy, but I didn't know that that was just a show.
I wanted to thank you.
I didn’t know you’d tell the lost boys everything but thank you for saying all those words about me and me learning I am none of them.
I think you need to know that I have grown up. Growing up has allowed me to forgive you for flying to Neverland with out me. I know now that me going there would’ve been a bad plan.Thank you for not taking me with you to that second star to the right.
I’ve been able to forgive myself for months now for thinking I am not a good person. When I am. I am so lovable and the fairy dust will always remind me how much I am. I seem to walk with it everywhere now. Not because of you, because of me.
I just need you to forgive yourself too. Because I don't think you have. Maybe then, you will finally stop being Peter Pan and will become the boy you’ve always wanted to be. Maybe then, you’ll finally be able to smile at me when I do it to you. You know, perhaps be a little kind. All your lost boys are, so it’s your turn now too.
I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything. I know you probably think I’d never say that, but it’s true. Not in the cliche, "I'm stronger because of you," but because I truly found myself.
The “Wendy” that always wanted to be in Neverland has found other dreams. So, thank you.
Love,
The new and improved "Wendy"
