I Wouldn't Be Where I Am Today Without You

Dear Mom and Dad,

I constantly find myself trying to put into words how thankful I am for you. I try to put into words how much you mean to me but I can't, I just cant. When I think of the life you've given me, tears fill my eyes. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't be at my dream school, pursuing my dream career. I wouldn't be the person I am today, either. People often tell me I have a huge heart and I tell them I get it from my parents. The both of you are so supportive and accepting - you're always there for me no matter what I want to do.

Growing up, I also had many friends with divorced parents. I could never imagine myself living in that situation. In school, there were so many kids who constantly bashed their parents and how unfair they were; I couldn't believe the nasty things they'd say. You both show each other so much love. I constantly find myself just admiring your marriage and friendship that you share. You're each other's best friend, biggest fan and so much more. You constantly lift each other up and support one another. You finish each other's sentences - it's almost as if you share your thoughts without even saying them out loud. I can only hope to have a marriage like yours one day. One filled with love and joy, with constant communication and understanding. I'm so blessed to be able to observe what real love is everyday I'm with you.

When it comes to love, I've never lacked it. You both show love in different ways, but I know it's always there. Regardless if we argue or disagree, at the end of the day I also know you love me. I'm so thankful for that - I'm thankful to know that no matter what I'll always have you guys. I've found myself many times sharing love more and more as I've grown up because love is so important. It's not shared just by "I love you" but also when we say "Be careful" and "I hope you have a good day."

All that I am and everything that I hope to be comes from the influence both of you have had on me. Like I said before, I really can't put into words how much you mean to me and how thankful I am to have both of you. You both are my heroes. I don't tell you enough, but I love you. You mean the absolute world to me and I'd be lost without you.

Thank you, for being you.

Thank you, for always being supportive.

Thank you, for ALWAYS making me feel beautiful.

Thank you, for always making sure I know my worth.

Thank you, for always being my biggest fan.

Thank you, for loving ALL of me; no matter what.

I love you, more than anything in the world.

xoxo,

Your biggest fan

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
