To My Roommates As We Move Out

Dear Roomies,

Freshman year went by way too quickly, and now, we’re getting ready to move out of our first dorm together even though it feels like we just moved in a week ago. It’s been a crazy year, full of firsts, but I was lucky enough to live with great friends to turn to. I just want to thank you for being by my side for all of the new experiences.

Everyone said moving away from home would be scary and hard, but they don’t tell you how much harder it is saying your goodbyes and leaving your friends. I remember being so nervous and excited to meet you, and now that the semester is almost over, I’m starting to realize how weird it will be living without you for the summer. Having my own room will never feel more empty than it will for those three months.

We’re leaving behind the dorm that we made so many memories in. It’s seen several late nights that turned into early mornings, group cuddle sessions while watching "One Tree Hill" and plenty of laughs well as its fair share of tears. I wouldn’t have wanted to share this room with anyone else, and I can only hope its residents next year have just as wonderful of an experience as we did.

Thank you for being not only the best roommates, but the best friends I could ask to tackle my freshman year with. You supported me through all of my ups and downs, stood by all of my decisions (no matter how questionable) and helped me learn and grow as a person. This was the year that we started finding ourselves, and I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to go through everything with you by my side.

I had no idea that our first year of college would have so much in store for us. So much has changed since the first time we met, and I’m sure we’ll see many more. I’ll be right by your sides through all of them. Thank you for the amazing memories, the experiences, the lessons and the friendships. I’ll remember them and you forever. Here’s to the next few years; I can’t wait to see where they take us.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
