Dear Roommate/BFF,
First off, I want to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry for leaving my clothes all over the room. We both know how much much I despise laundry, and I’m more than happy to accept my title as the messy roommate. I’m sorry I’m so weird about my stuff. I really mean it when I say it’s me not you. It has to do with my sister eating my food and taking my stuff not you, I swear. I’m sorry about how much I watch Netflix. I’ll be the first to admit I have an addiction. I know all the blood in Grey’s and Dexter is not your thing, but you sit through it because you love me. I’m sorry that sometimes I’m a bad friend. I know I talk too much, and I interrupt people all the time and I’m not the best listener, but you love me anyway. Also I spoil, TV shows. I’m really sorry about that I swear, I just can’t help it. I’m innately evil.
Next I want to say thank you. Thank you for letting me borrow your clothes when I have nothing to wear. I know I do to way too much (especially your denim shirt since mine shrunk in the dryer). Speaking of the dryer, you’re more than willing to put my clothes in when I forget to before going to class. Thank you for updating me on what I missed on the bachelor when I have to go to chapter. Seriously I would be so behind without you. Thanks for sitting with me and trying to figure out what the heck is going on with this presidential election, and for letting me I’m not the only one who’s confused.
Thank you for comforting me when I’m upset. You’re the only family I have here, and I’m forever grateful that I do. Thank you for staying up late with me when we both have to study, or we’re just to wound up to go to sleep. Thank you for being my person, the person I can rant to when I just can’t take it anymore. Thank you for letting me use your cow mug because I know it’s your favorite. Thank you for letting me go out with you and your friends when all mine are being lame. Thanks for laughing at my bad dancing with me, and not making fun of me for it. Thanks for sharing the cookies your mom sends you with me, I really love you for that. Lastly I want to thank you for your Pinterest boards. They are amazing.
Next year is going to be so weird not coming home to you sitting on the futon, and me coming in saying, “guess what happened today.” Because for the first time in 13 years you’re I’m not going to see you everyday. Before we went to college people always told me that I’m going to make new best friends in my classes and my sorority. And sure I have, but they’re just best friends, you’re my BFF.
LYLAS,
Your BFF and Roommate
