To My Parents On Their 26th Wedding Anniversary
Alexia R. Guzmán

Dear Mami & Papi,

As you celebrate your 26th wedding anniversary, I just wanted to let you know what it means for me to be your daughter. Throughout my life, I have never doubted your love for one another. I have never doubted your support. Most importantly, I have never once doubted as if Francisco, Pablo, Diego and I were the luckiest children in the world by having you as our parents.

I know that I can be difficult at times but I know that when you give me tough love it is only because you want what is best for me.

As I grow older, I realize with each passing day what a blessing it is to have parents like you. Thank you for everything you have done for us. I want you to know that I love you from the bottom of mi corazón and how proud I am to be your daughter, a Guzmán

On this day 26 years ago you said "I do." to each other. That is just 5 more years than I've been alive. Crazy. I am truly blessed that God gave you to Francisco, Pablo, Diego, and I.

Thank you for giving me tough and unconditional love.

Thank you for being more of a parent and less of a friend. Because of this I know that that lessons I have learned from you will benefit me in the long run.

Thank you for keeping God first. Without my faith, I don't know where I would be. Because of this I put my armor of God on everyday and know that with Him on my side there is nothing I cannot handle.

Thank you for giving me 3 brothers. I wouldn't have it any other way. They are my little-big brothers. I know that because of you they are growing up to be true men of God.

Thank you for our dog, Uno. He is our best friend and I can't imagine our family without him.

Thank you for teaching us to never give up.

Thank you for letting us know what hard work is all about.

Thank you for instilling in us academic excellence. From the many tears shed while I was in Buffalo Prep to getting my 4.0 GPA in college, I have you to thank for pushing me to be in Guzmán mode.

Thank you for proving to me that true love does indeed exist in this crazy world. You are my #relationshipgoals.

God first, family second, school third, and everything else will fall into place. That is the motto. That is what I will carry with me for the rest of my life all because of you.

Happy 26th wedding anniversary Mami & Papi.

Here's to many more years to come.

Bendición.

All my love,

Your Favorite Daughter

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
