If you ask someone who knows what I'm like, they'll probably describe me as an outgoing, loud enthusiastic, loving, and affectionate person. I love my personality and believe that it makes me who I am. It was actually pretty hilarious to me when I realized the majority of my friends are very different than me. This goes out to all of them.
Dear Not-So Affectionate Best Friend,
First of all, I love you and I know you love me, even though you don't necessarily say it often. I just want to take time to tell you some of the reasons why I love you and need you in my life.
You stand up for me when I can't do it myself.
Because of my sensitive heart, it's hard for me to stand up for myself sometimes. You justify my actions when I do stand up for myself and you will always defend me. You've taught me so much about strength, bravery, and courage.
Your rare moments of affection take me by surprise and are so special to me.
When I'm down or upset you always go out of your way to accommodate to my personality. You welcome hugs, mushy texts and corny jokes without complaint. I really love this because it shows how truly selfless you are.
You accept all of me.
Including my loud and outgoing personality. You never judge me even if I'm singing out loud or laughing so hard that I'm in tears (probably over something stupid). You put up with it all, no matter what.
You've taught me to laugh at myself.
You laugh at me most of the time, so I'm starting to get the hang of laughing at myself. When things go wrong or when I put myself in an awkward situation, I now have the ability to laugh about it because of you.
You love me in a way I've never known before.
Through the eye rolls, sarcastic remarks and "I hate yous" is a love of comfort, trust, and security. We are both comfortable enough to have a playful friendship and be able to trust that I can come to you with serious problems.
You've changed my heart and shown me a new kind of love and I will be forever grateful for that. Thanks for being my best friend. Thanks for fake-laughing at my corny jokes and for your sarcastic remarks. Thanks for taking cute pictures with me and laughing at me and always putting up with me. I can't imagine my life without you.
Have I ever told you that I love you? Because I do.
Love,
Your super-loving and extremely affectionate best friend.
