To my new best friend, thank you.
College as you surely know by now, is pretty rough. Between classes, RSOs, homework, planning for the future, and the much needed nap, it can be hard to find time for yourself and for others. However, college is also pretty great, thanks largely in part to you. You were my first true friend in college, the first person I felt was like me, and the first person who allowed me to feel as if I belonged here. Words cannot fully express my thankfulness to and for you, but I will certainly try.
To my new best friend, thank you.
From our deep faith-filled conversations to our late night ice cream runs, I know that I can always count on you to be there. We love many of the same things-food, sleep, and Pinterest, to name a few-which I think is really great. Even better though, is that we love them in the same ways. Since I don't use snapchat to send cute pictures or to have a normal conversation, I am grateful that you appreciate (and screenshot) my ugly snapchats and that you are always there to send a few right back. I know when I'm with you that it is okay to cry, but also that we will usually end up laughing instead.
To my new best friend, thank you.
While we share many of the same goals in life, we also have plenty of dreams that are different from one another. However, seeing your passion for what you love motivates me to improve myself and reach towards my own goals. You are so full of life and love; it is truly an inspiration to be around you. I admire your drive and sound judgment, qualities that I believe a great best friend should always have. I love that we share the same values (the minority values here in college) and that we are able to hold each other accountable when the going gets tough.
To my new best friend, thank you.
Your advice is incredibly helpful, and I am grateful to know that I can always turn to you when I don't know what choice to make, both big and small. Thank you for telling it to me straight, letting me know how you feel without sugarcoating it to protect my feelings. On that note, thank you for always knowing the right answers, even if I wish something different to be true. As I often forget when it comes to decision-making, you remind me that God is in control and ultimately it is up to Him, not me. In times and places where I sometimes feel as if I'm drowning, you keep me afloat.
To my new best friend, thank you.
You popped the question about rooming together next year and of course I said yes! So here's to all of our adventures to come, I know they will be great. For all of the ways in which we will continue to support each other, grow as individuals, and reach our goals, I thank you, my best friend, for being by my side through it all.
