Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

There have been far too many times in my life where I haven't taken the chance to tell you how much I appreciate everything that you have done for me. Sometimes I get too caught up in myself and I don't look at the bigger picture. You two are the most influential people in my life and you deserve the credit for all that you have given me.

First off, I wouldn't be where I am today without you. You were a vital part of my life growing up. When we were going through financial troubles, you always made sure that we had a roof over our heads and food on our table. When we lived with you, you took the time to walk my brother and I to school every morning; even in the freezing cold. You came to all of my sports games, my choir concerts, and cheered me on at graduation as I got my diploma. Now, you have been by my side rooting for me as I have started a new part of my life at college.

Even in my darkest moments, you have been the shining sun. You have helped me grow, learn, and be thankful for everything in my life. You have opened my eyes to see everything from a different perspective because you never know what someone is going through. You have taught me the valuable lessons of humility and kindness. Because of you, I wear my heart on my sleeve. I feel invincible in a world that is constantly trying to change who I am.

Without the both of you, I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't be attending college. I wouldn't be applying for internships in different states. I wouldn't be willing to achieve my dreams. There were some times in my life where I didn't think that I was capable of doing what I wanted to do with my life. I was insecure and scared. But then I sat there and I realized that I have potential. I have potential to do whatever I set my mind out to do.

Some of the things that you have taught me haven't come directly from you telling me them. They have come from the experiences that I have been blessed with. You don't get enough credit for everything that you have done for me and everyone else. I don't know where I would be without either one of you. You are an inspiration and a blessing in my life.

Always and forever thankful for you.

Love,

Your Granddaughter

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
