To My Best Friend On Thanksgiving

My dearest friend,

It is that time of year again: the time to be grateful and the time to say, thank you. Thanksgiving is a celebration of all sorts. It is a celebration that brings loved ones together. Each and every day I am thankful for the way my life has turned out, including the ups and the downs, but today I am extra thankful. Don't misunderstand me when I say that today I am grateful for you, because I am grateful for you every day. I don't think I tell you enough how happy I am that you are in my life and what part of our friendship I am thankful for.

Thank you for being my friend.

We started out as strangers and ended up as best friends. I never knew that our casual interaction would turn into something so meaningful. But, I am thankful it did. Without you, I would be lost. Literally. I can barely navigate Google maps, so there is no way I would be able to navigate life without you.

Thank you for telling me the truth.

No matter what you always tell me the truth. Even when it crushes my ego, you still tell me the truth. That is a true friend.

Thank you for saving me from all the hideous outfit choices.

The look on your face says it all. You have the "oh my gosh, what is she thinking?" face and the "oh my gosh, you look hot" face. Both of which are very distinct. Your looks tell me what the mirror didn't.

Thank you for protecting me.

Whether you are protecting me from the monster under the bed, the clown in the television screen, or the demons that walk the street, I know you will always have my back.

Thank you for always listening.

You are always a phone call or text message away, and I am grateful for that. You even listen to my pointless rambles about things you probably really don't care about, which obviously makes you the real MVP.

Thank you for putting up with my roller coaster of emotions.

You are always my shoulder to lean on, no matter what the situation.

Thank you for keeping me young.

On days when I don't want to be an adult, you keep the child in me alive.

Thank you for all the encouragement over the years.

Monica and Rachel say it all.

Thank you for the girls nights.

At the end of a bad day, a long week, or just because I always know that you are willing to participate in alcoholic adventures with me.

Thank you for loving me.

I may not be the most "normal" person out there, but you put up with all my quirks anyway. You love me for me and I am beyond thankful for that.

There is a reason you are my best friend. There is a reason you mean so much to me. I am thankful for your presence in my life every day, but today I am extra thankful. I can't wait to see what crazy direction our lives go and what adventures are still in store for us. Now, it is time to go dig the turkey out of the refrigerator and eat my body weight in food; at least I know you'll still tell me I look pretty anyway.

Sincerely,

Your best friend

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
