It's been three years since we have attended the same school. I live 1,200 miles away, and now we only see each other on holidays if we're lucky. I see the occasional Instagram picture every couple of days, and sometimes read over your recent Tweets. Life is definitely different, and although it's been three years since I left the hometown, it feels like just yesterday we were raiding the halls of our high school together. I can't say I don't miss it, and I would give so much to be able to see you every day like during the high school years. While the distance may seem like it would be detrimental to our friendship, it's done more good than harm.
Somehow we still keep each other updated on the latest gossip. Every time you send me a text like "you'll never guess what so-and-so from high school did," it puts a smile on my face and reminds me of the past. Getting a good laugh at the old high school never ceases to amuse me. I'm glad I still haven't lost my gossip buddy.
Thank you for being there for me when I needed someone to rant to. Whether it's problems with friends at school, stress from classes, the recent happenings at my college, or just me being in a bad mood, you're always there to listen to my complaints and stories and act like you care. There's a lot of things that need to be talked about with someone not at the same college as me, and I'm so happy you stuck by my side to be that person.
Thank you for being my go-to friend to text when something important happens to me. You're always the first person I text for advice and the first I tell exciting things to. I wish you were here to experience some of these events with me, but I know you're there in spirit and only a text away.
Thank you for being one of my number one fans, and cheering me on during everything I do. The texts, Facetimes and phone calls before and after games are inspirational. I love knowing you're there cheering me on from so far away. Sports aren't the same without you and I would give anything to play one more game with you and relive our glory days.
You may not realize, but you're the reason I'm getting through this last week of classes before Thanksgiving break. You know that I have a huge exam before break and the Snapchats of encouragement are making these late-night studying sessions happen. The words of encouragement from 1,200 miles away do more than you could even imagine.
I come home in a few days, and I know we have both been counting down the hours. We have plans in place to raid our hometown once again. Best friend, it's been awhile, but I promise nothing has changed. I'm still your crazy, weird best friend and I always will be, no matter the distance.
Love Always,
Your Best Friend, 1,200 Miles Away
