To Her New Best Friends:

I am so glad that you have gotten the pleasure of meeting my best friend, isn't she wonderful? No, nothing happened between she and I. However, college has put some physical distance between us. Not much has changed in our relationship. We still rant about little things, and gossip over hot guys. We talk daily.

However, you have something that I don't. You have her there with you. The only thing that has changed between she and I is the fact that I do not get to experience life with her. I will not be there for her when her boyfriend breaks up with her. We won't get to go to McDonald's at midnight. You talk to her more than I do. But it is ok.

If she has let you close enough to her heart to call you her best friend, you must be pretty great! She doesn't like to open up to just anyone. I'm sure that you have already gotten to know her contagious laugh, and her alter ego when she's driving. Let's be honest, it is absolutely hysterical!

I thought that I would share some little tidbits about her that will help your friendship become even stronger than it is right now. If she is upset, hug her and give her a diet coke. Lying is not acceptable under any circumstance, just don't do it. You'll never have a better time with her than at a concert. Her confidence is so admirable, but don't let it fool you. We are all human.

I hope that you have realized that she is one of the best people on this planet. Her smile radiates throughout the room. I hope that you have heard her sing because she is wickedly talented. She has the biggest heart and cares so wildly about everyone she meets. Don't let her sweet voice fool you, she has the mouth of a sailor!

I can only pray that you will never do anything to break her trust. She's chosen you to hold a big part in her life, so please don't do anything to hurt her.

Although I am over an hour away, I am still here. She and I have been to hell and back. I miss her like crazy, and I'd do anything to get the chance to go to school with her again (and to get to know you too!) Life just isn't the same without her by my side.

Treat her well. Don't let any boy do her wrong, she doesn't deserve it. I cannot wait until I get to meet you! Give her hugs from me. Thank you for being her new best friend. She deserves you.

Sending all my love, I'll see you both soon!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
