First and foremost, I want to clarify that I'm not trying to convince you to suddenly change your deep-rooted personal beliefs. You can continue believing abortion is a sin. While I do disagree with you, I understand that it's nearly impossible to change someone's developed moral intuitions.
However, I'm still going to attempt to explain to you why de-funding Planned Parenthood should be considered a bad idea, by everyone. You shouldn't use your personal beliefs as a justification for something that will probably provide more harm than good, despite your intentions.
Now, generally speaking, I understand that if you are against abortion then your view toward Planned Parenthood is probably something along the lines of: Abortion is bad. Planned Parenthood does abortions. Therefore, we should get rid of Planned Parenthood.
But, the idea of abortion is already so complex and it's nearly impossible to apply it to a political agenda at all. Just because you personally don't support it, it doesn't mean de-funding access to it is the right answer.
Additionally, this is such a closed-minded way of thinking. It gives off a very ignorant vibe and it tells me that you do not actually understand what Planned Parenthood is.
While Planned Parenthood does provide access to abortions, it is should not be defined as an abortion clinic. It's actually a non-profit organization that provides sexual health care.
"Sexual health care" means providing things like STD/STI checks, access to birth control and other forms of contraception, screenings for different kinds of reproductive cancers and, with the additions of safe access to abortions, it provides comprehensive sex education.
Planned Parenthood is backed by medical experts, and taking that safe access option away will not change anything. In fact, it will only make the situation worse. Currently, 68,000 women worldwide die annually from unsafe abortions. It is not only one of the leading causes of maternal mortality, but it's something that can be so easily fixed. De-funding Planned Parenthood will only make that number grow when it should be shrinking.
Also, most people believe that Planned Parenthood should be de-funded because they don't like paying taxes for something they don't believe in. But the thing is, only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood funding even goes to abortions. Most of their provided government funding goes towards STD and STI checks for their patients.
To put it in different terms, in case you still don't understand, let's say that you were offered a fruit tray for a party you are throwing. It comes with a bunch of different fruits that you (hypothetically) love - bananas, oranges, grapes, apples and kiwis. But let's say that this fruit tray also comes with one single fruit you (hypothetically) hate — blueberries.
Now, you would still serve this offered tray at your party, right? Just because you don't like blueberries doesn't mean all of your guests don't like them.
Not to say that abortion is equivalent to a blueberry, but it doesn't make sense to NOT get rid of the whole thing, because it doesn't really take up much space.
Abortion doesn't take up much of government funding, so we shouldn't throw all of Planned Parenthood away.
