A Letter To My Big

The only thing better than getting a bid was getting you as my big.

A Letter To My Big

Dear Big,

From the moment I met you I knew that we were going to be friends. When I got my bid from Kappa and ran out to my new home I was so concentrated on trying to find you and hug you that I don't really remember hugging anyone else.

After going to the fair together and you watching me squirt mustard all over my shirt and not be ashamed to be seen with me I knew you were someone special. When we went to Los Ranch and had a deep conversation after knowing each other for maybe a month I knew you had to be my big. I told you things I didn't tell a lot of people. You are easy to talk to.

We are the same person. I honestly cannot believe how similar our mannerisms, things we say, or the things we think are . We even are the same shoe size.

When our new member mom announced that we were about to find out our bigs my heart was suddenly in my throat. I forgot about everything that I had to do that night because this was it. I had my suspicions and I knew it was you, but it is still so scary. When I saw your beautiful face pop out of the Finding Nemo themed box I couldn't help but cry. I ran home on Bid Day to KKG, and there I stood with my heart running home to you. I had only known you for about a month or so when you became my big, but I thought I'd known you a lifetime.

You're always looking out for me. You always have my best interests at heart. I know that I can always go to you for anything and everything. Similar to The Notebook, "you tell me when I'm being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you're being a pain in the ass", and finding a person to be real with, I've realized, is hard to come by. I get on your nerves and you get on mine, but I love you. Nothing will change that.

I want to thank you for not only welcoming me into your life, but for welcoming my g-big into my life as well. You two have taught me so much already. I love you both so much.

Before joining a sorority, I heard that sisters are who you make your bridesmaids, and I can already imagine the weird faces that I'll be making at both of you while I'm walking down the isle.

I love you to the moon and back.

Love,

Little Nug

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
