This is for you.

To Anyone Who Has Been Hurt And Too Afraid To Speak Up
Rachel Raupp

This is for anyone who has ever been hurt, left behind, forgotten, or replaced by someone they cared about, or even by someone they didn’t care about. Anyone who has had their heart broken or cried themselves to sleep. If you’ve laid in bed for far too long or listened to sad music on repeat, or have done both simultaneously, this is for you. If you’ve ever drank too much in hopes of feeling a lot less, then woke up the next day feeling even worse, this is for you. If you’ve ever loved but not been loved in return, or if you’re ever not been able to love yourself—this is for you.

You are not alone.

If you’ve ever been too afraid to stick up for yourself, here’s your voice. If people have ever done you wrong and made you feel any less amazing than what you are, here’s your voice. If anybody has ever made you feel hollow and numb, an emptiness inside you where you had once been full, here’s your voice. If you’ve never been able to tell someone off because you were too afraid of being a bitch, or losing your job, or losing someone even though they didn’t deserve you anyway—here’s your voice.

Life is too long to take crap from people, to be walked on, talked down to, disrespected, abused, taken for granted, or broken.

Life is too short to not stand up for yourself, to not tell people when they have crossed the line, to tell them that you deserve better.

This is for you. You are not alone. Here’s your voice.

To the boy who told you your dreams are dumb and you’ll never fulfill them;

To the girl who had been your best friend for years then one day told you she didn’t care enough to put time and effort into your friendship anymore;

To the boy who brutally and relentlessly broke every part of you after you had given him more than just your heart;

To the girl who spread nasty rumors about you, whether it was in elementary school, middle school, high school, or as an adult, and made you too embarrassed to hold your head confidently;

To the boy who made you feel like you weren’t good enough;

To the girl who rolls her eyes at the success and happiness in your life;

To the boy who never contacted you again after promising he would call;

To the people at work who stare at you and whisper because you aren’t like them;

To the boy whose words and actions tell two completely different stories;

To the girl who hooked up with your ex and rubbed it in your face;

To your ex for cheating on you and/or hooking up with your friend;

To the person who hurts you physically;

To the people who call you names and think it’s OK;

To the friends who left for college and never contacted you again;

To the bosses who treated you unfairly simply because they knew they could;

To the person you love who tore you down day after day, taking your love for granted;

To the boy who didn’t want to know you on the inside, only the outside;

To the person who told you they needed space, only for that space to turn into a galaxy;

To the friend who is blind to genuine friends in a world of fake ones, and accused you of tearing her down when all you did was care;

To all the people who have ever gone behind your back;

To the person in the mirror who looks back at you and tells you that all the things these people said/did to you is what you deserve, is who you are, is who you will always be;

YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME ANYMORE.

Now, say it.

Say it again.

Say it until you believe it.

Then say it some more.

You are strong. Keep your heart full, your head up and do not ever let them see your confidence falter. Do not give these people the satisfaction of knowing they hurt you, put you down, or made you question yourself. People will hurt you simply because they can. People might mistake your motives for trying to hurt them. Act with golden intentions, stand by what you believe and nobody can tell you that you’re wrong.

These people are not worth your tears in bed before you slip into sleep nor the feeling of worthlessness that hangs over you. They are not worth the anger you feel from the tips of your fingers down to your toes nor your excessive thinking of their words and actions going around and around in your head. This spinning carousel of negativity needs to stop.

They are a small part of you, but not all of you. Not even close to all of you. They are a sliver. You are so much more.

Free yourself from the weight they’ve placed on you, whatever it may be. Look yourself in the mirror and say, “I know who I am, I love who I am, and I will not be brought down by one person who, in the grand scheme of things, is a speck in my life. I deserve to be happy and free. I am worth more than this.”

These people are not a reflection of you. You determine your worth—no one else.

For the people who are afraid to stand up for themselves;

For the people who allow themselves to be walked on;

For the people who are ready to forget, let go and grow stronger;

For the people who are ready for a full heart once more;

For the people who are ready to love themselves;

For the people who no longer want to be hurt by those they care for;

For the people who have needed the push to better themselves;

This is for you.

You are not alone.

Here’s your voice.

You have the power now.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
