Everywhere you look, you see the Kardashians. You cannot go on Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter without seeing something about them. You cannot listen to the radio without hearing things about them. You cannot go to the store without one of their faces on a magazine cover. Every nook, every cranny, every corner, the Kardashians are there.
But what is with this craze of the Kardashians? What is so special about this family in particular that our culture cannot escape them?
Everywhere I look, they are there.
"Kim Kardashian posted another nude selfie."
"Kim Kardashian got robbed."
"Kim Kardashian's body, real or fake?"
"Khloe Kardashian is not really a Kardashian."
"Khloe Kardashian lost weight."
"Kylie Jenner had lip injections."
"Kylie Jenner is dating Tyga."
"Kylie Jenner is an aunt and a mom to Tyga's kid."
"Kylie Jenner had plastic surgery."
"Bruce Jenner is a woman."
"Caitlyn Jenner decided she does not want to be a woman anymore?"
"Kris Jenner is having an affair with Scott Disick."
"Kourtney Kardashian is having another baby with Scott Disick."
"Rob Kardashian is with Tyga's ex."
"The Kardashians are having drama with Black Chyna."
"Black Chyna yelled at Rob Kardashian again."
" Kanye West is in a mental hospital."
"Kanye West this."
"Kanye West that."
"The Kardashians this."
"The Kardashians that."
"The Jenners this."
"The Jenners that."
"Keep up with the Kardashians!"
Frankly, I am tired of it.
I am tired of going on Snapchat to check out my friend's stories -- or, you know, rewatching mine for the millionth time -- and being bombarded with half-naked Kardashians. I am tired of the young girls who are on social media feeling influenced to look exactly like them. I am tired of men thinking if you do not look like one of the sisters, that you are not worth their time. I am tired of listening to my favorite radio talk show and hearing about them nearly every morning. I am tired of feeling obligated to look like them. I am tired of thousands of dollars in plastic surgery being the standard women are held to. I am tired of it all.
I hope someday I will be able to look on social media or listen to my favorite talk show and I will not see or hear anything about the Kardashians. I hope someday that the craze will die down. I hope someday women and girls do not feel obligated to look like them. I hope... Some day...
