5 Completely Uplifting Tips On How To Get Work Done While Sick

The past two weeks, I have been sick with a fever or a cold, and let me tell you how annoying and uncomfortable it is. What makes it worse is having to get work done while you are sick. You are aching, and your body does not want to cooperate by helping you focus on your work. So if you're ever feeling this way, here are 5 tips on how to work when you're sick.

Let it go.... Brighten up!

It can be hard to look at the bright side, especially when you are sick, but the best way to beat that horrible feeling and work better is telling yourself that you are not sick. Tell yourself to let it go, whatever pain you might feel, it's okay and try and be more cheering. This will put you in a better mood and make your sick day a little bit better. Our moods influence our behaviors, and if you put yourself in a better mood, you are going to be more willing to work better.

Change up your diet

Having a good and healthy diet is important when you are feeling under the weather. Don't eat big meals or junk food. Stack up on good fruits and vegetables. It is also good to take in lots of fluids like water. Eating the right foods is essential to getting better because it helps you build up the immunity and fight the sickness.

Take the right medicine

It is normal to take medicine when sick but make sure you take the right medicine. That means to avoid the ones that for the nighttime like nyquil during the day. Be sure to double check what you are putting inside your body before taking. It would also be a good idea if you are struggling and don't know what to take, to call your doctor.

Make yourself comfortable

Sit on the bed, put on some Netflix in the background, make some hot tea. Being sick always comes with an uneasy feeling so get comfortable. Allow yourself feel comfy and warm with pillows and blanket. This will also help you be in a better mood which again can help you work better when sick.

Rest. Rest. Rest!

Give yourself that time to sleep and take naps. Yes, you might have work to do but a power nap wouldn't hurt anyone especially when sick. Rest is the best medicine. Don't stress or overwork yourself out even when you are not feeling the best. Know that it is harder to recover once you become sick.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
