Tips for Your Trip to NYC
  • Go with your mom - the best sightseeing, eating, shopping, etcetera partner. Just the best travel partner.
  • Don't get your hopes up that you will meet a celebrity… there are maybe 249 people on each block.
  • In the winter, pack warmer than you would expect to. Seriously. I'm talking ski mask.
  • Wear walking shoes. It's all you do.
  • Charge your camera.
  • Walk into NBC News and have the chance to watch Seth Myers' monologue, for free.
  • Shop at Rockefeller Center. Shop on 5th Ave. Shop at SoHo. Shop anywhere.
  • If you are a huge Gossip Girl, Friends or HIMYM fan, google the famous places and go see them. Kind of overrated, but that's okay.
  • See Jimmy Fallon and tell me all about it.
  • See the Rockettes.
  • Go to the Top of the Rock and see the WHOLE city from the 70th floor. Plus, freeze up there in the wind.
  • Eat anywhere.
  • Go to China Town.
  • If necessary, buy a ticket for a Hop On Hop Off tour bus, the tour guides can be pretty entertaining. Plus, it's better than the Subway or a taxi.
  • Be prepared to witness a protest (or five).
  • Go to Times Square, like once. That is all.
  • Eat Italian food.
  • Apparently all of the restaurants are on 9th Ave. Go there.
  • GO TO THE 9/11 MEMORIAL. Seriously. Go. It's amazing.
  • Go to the 9/11 Tribute Museum.
  • Don't eat breakfast in your hotel buffet ($90 later…)
  • Take as many pictures as you can. I'm sure you'll find the perfect Instagram.
  • The Statue of Liberty is far, but I guess it would be cool to see.
  • Go to the holiday markets, ice skating rinks and see the trees during Christmastime.
  • Go to the minus 5 ice bar at the Hilton in Midtown. (You can get in underage and drink water/soda - it's a cool experience.)
  • See the Empire State Building.
  • Go to the Urban Outfitters near Rockefeller Center - best one I've been to.
  • Pedicab through Central Park.
  • Get a hotdog at one of the 30,000 stands they have at every corner.
  • See a Broadway play.
  • Have a map and know how to read it.
  • Go to small cafes and have awesome coffee and dessert.
  • Find our country's Debt Clock. Lol.
  • Be ready to drop some serious cash.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
