I am not a heavy person. I would not be considered overweight by any means. Which is odd, considering the amount of food that I eat. I snack constantly, I eat when I'm not hungry, I gorge myself to the point where my food baby is the size of an actual baby during pregnancy. And eventually I know it will all catch up to me. Fortunately for now, I can rely on my fast metabolism- but I am still finding ways to cut back on the possible approaching weight gain. So for those of you out there who share my problem- here are some things that might make you feel better or help you out.
1. If you need to snack, snack on healthy things.
Fruit chips make awesome snacks! Like dried mango, apple chips, pineapple chips, etc. Or even better, REAL FRUIT. I love fruit. I could eat fruit non stop.
2. If you snack because eating helps you stay focused, try chewing gum.
Whenever I study I always snack. This is my highest snacking point. For some reason snacking keeps me focused and keeps me from getting sleepy. Gum is certainly not a calorie concern, and it gives your mouth something to do. In a way, I suppose it tricks your body by making it feel like it's eating something, except you're not. #WIN.
3. Drink tea.
Similar to the chewing gum idea- drinking tea will give you an activity to do that occupies your mouth. Whenever you get the craving to pop in a cookie, take a sip of tea instead.
4. Use your snacking as a reward system to help you get things done.
Have a long boring book you can't seem to get through? How about one chip every two pages you read? That might get you going. And it'll decrease the overall amount you eat.
5. Distract yourself with something else!
Go for a run, do some crafts, play some video games. Something that keeps your hands and mind busy.
6. Look at images of what you could look like if you keep at it.
Yup. That's a good one. Terrifying right?
7. Tell your friends to keep your food away from you.
You may hate them for it at the moment, but in the long run they are helping you out.
8. Buy less food.
Everyone knows those trips to the grocery store that end in you buying 100 dollars worth of snacks that you weren't planning on getting but grabbed last minute. If you don't have snacks to eat, then you can't constantly snack. I'm not saying don't buy any snacks, just buy a smaller quantity.
9. Snack on lower calorie food.
Nuff said. See that low fat label? Go for it.
10. Brush your teeth.
I am very particular when it comes to my teeth. Cavities are THE WORST. There's a rule that once you brush your teeth you shouldn't eat for a half hour afterwords or else it'll ruin the effect that toothpaste has and leave you open for more cavities. Or at least, that's what I've heard. I'm no expert so don't quote me. But I believe it, so I always wait the half hour. Better safe than sorry.
