OMG t-minus 68 days until classes finally start up again. I know you are wondering why I am so excited for this, but you will soon understand that the school year is far better than the summer months when you are a college student. In a short few weeks you will be starting a new adventure, a new life that you are not really familiar with. Here are my top ten tips for incoming girl freshmen at Kansas State University.

1. Don't be scared

Yes leaving home and your family for the first time is a little scary, but do not let that affect your first few weeks of this new adventure.

2. Go out

There will be nights you are not really sure if you want to go out or not. Yes it is okay to stay in every once in a while with your roomies for a movie night or something, but if you are laying there contemplating about going out or staying in and all your friends are going out... go out every single time.

This is how you are going to make the best of memories and if all your friends go out and you end up not you will probs lay there all night and regret it, at least I know I did.

3. If you are single

Do not spend your whole freshman year or any year for that matter looking around for "the one." This person will come around when you least expect it, or so I am told anyways. Make memories and do not worry about this; college is some of the best years of your life, and you do not want to look back and regret things.

4. If you are in a relationship

Do not let it hold you back from having a good time with your friends. I have seen it time and time again with friends of mine who do not go out because they do not want to make their significant other unhappy. Again, you do not want to look back and regret not making memories with your friends,

5. Take pics

All kinds of pics and videos. You will want to look back at the memories you have made throughout the year. My roommates and I at the end of the year liked to look back on memories from earlier in the spring semester and from the fall semester. You will never regret taking too many pictures, but you will regret not taking them.

6. Use the frat DDs

It may seem a little weird that they are having people come get you, but it is not. Plus it is free and they will take you just about anywhere (besides the other frats). It is also a safe way to get around and much cheaper than UBER or Lyft. Also trust me you will make some of the best memories in the DD car.

7. Walk your class schedule

You do not want to be two weeks into school and still not know where you are going. The campus is really not that hard to get around, but if you are not the best with directions definitely use the map on the Kansas State app. You do not want to be the one missing classes because you can not find your way around campus.

8. Study

This is not high school and your classes will probably not be as easy as they were in high school. A lot of people make the mistake freshman year thinking they can just breeze by with their high school study habits, but this is not the case and often times people will not have the best grades their freshman year because of this.

9. Use your meal plan

Yes you will start to get tired of the dining center, but you can usually find something different. Kramer in my opinion has the most options. Plus using your dining plan helps you not to spend money eating out. You have already paid for the dining plan, and you need to get the best use out of it.

10. HAVE FUN

This is the best tip I can give. Make friends and make memories. Have fun doing whatever it is you love to do, because you are only this age once.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
