Nandi Smith

Summer study abroad was one of the best experiences of my life! Here are 8 tips so you can make the most out of your study abroad trip with the least regrets!

1. Don't feel bad for not trying the local food for every meal

Nandi Smith

Yes, this is Five Guys... it was cheap and we were starving.

2. Don't overwhelm yourself with things to do just because you're not there for a long time

Nandi Smith

Going to the Guinness Storehouse was the only thing my friend and I did for our day in Dublin and we had no regrets we were exhausted.

3. Make friends with locals if you can because it really makes a difference

Nandi Smith

We made friends with some locals who told us about the Ice Bar in London and we had the best time there.

4. Visit the cool landmarks everyone else does

Nandi Smith

It's nice to tell people about what you did and have them actually know what you're talking about.

5. Stay in touch with the friends you made over the summer

Nandi Smith

I still talk to some of my study abroad friends everyday. The memories and the bond you create with your friends are so amazing.

6. Take all of the pictures you can and don't feel bad about it

Nandi Smith

... Even the stupid ones are still memories.

7. Don't worry about being embarrassed, ask all the questions

Nandi Smith

Especially when your directions look like this.

8. Stay in a hostel and go and make friends!!!

Nandi Smith

Hostels are a good place to meet friends from all over the world, not just people that live in the city you're in.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
