Fall semester is quite literally right around the corner. Here are a few tips and tricks that work for me in order to help you have a successful semester. Try some of these out and tweak some if you need to! Here's to a great fall semester as I know we all need it.

Buy a pretty planner.

I have been a sucker for pretty planners since I learned how to write. Or pretty journals in general. For me personally, having a planner where I can write down all of my personal plans along with school work is super helpful. Having somewhere I can refer to when I need to see an overview of my week really helps. With so much going on it can be really easy for something to be forgotten and slip my mind. Being able to see a layout of my week or even the month really puts things into perspective. It also helps me realize that I in fact do have time to do things, I just need to make time for it! Go out a buy a pretty planner that fits your personal aesthetic. If you pick a pretty planner, you'll be more inclined to use it (yes, even if it's just for that instagram pic).

Have a designated (and organized) work space.

Up until 6 months ago my designated work space was my bed. I didn't realize how horrible that was until I finally decided to get a desk. It is amazing! It is so nice to have a set place where I can get down to business and get work done. It also helps to keep a good posture. Long gone are the days where my back would hurt from crouching on my bed in order to finish my homework assignments. In my desk I have everything I need in order to finish my assignments. A big bonus is that my desk is facing a window so I can always take small breaks to look outside if I am ever feeling overwhelmed. Not to mention that having a desk has kept my bed much more organized which makes the feel of my room so much better!

Make time for yourself.

Personally, this semester might be one of my hardest. All of my classes are online and online classes are just not my thing! There is not much I can do but make the best of it. Even with school things going on and work along with other responsibilities it is important to take breaks and refresh your mind! Make time to call friends, take walks, or indulge in your favorite passtime it will do you good, trust me!

Keep yourself accountable.

This one speaks for itself. Keep yourself accountable! Rewards are not just for elementary schoolers, they can also be for us. Give yourself rewards for doing what you need to do.

Set time aside specifically to work on school work.

One thing that works wonders for me is to set specific time aside to get work done. During this time I make sure to keep distractions away like my phone. Keeping distractions away helps me keep focus and not get side tracked. Personally my weakness is TikTok, it is amazing how much time can pass by on that app! In short, setting time aside will assure you that you can finish what you need to finish on time and you'll have time for other things afterwards!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
