Everyone has ideas of what it takes to have the perfect summer, whether that's going to concerts or sitting on the beach all day every day. However, it feels like actually attaining the perfect summer is impossible because of the idea we’ve created. In order to love your own summer, you need to stop thinking of what it takes to have the perfect one and instead, get out there to create it. There are tons of things that can be done that won’t seem like much but when you look back, you’ll realize just how great the summer was.
1. Dig out your library card, pick out a great book or series, and get started.
2. Take a day trip with some of your best friends. The destination isn’t important, it’s all about the journey.
3. Go to the museum. Museums are almost always interesting and a great way to beat the summer heat.
4. Go on a photo shoot with your friends or siblings. Even if the pictures don’t turn out great, you’re sure to make great memories and pictures to laugh at later.
5. Discover a new band or artist. Music is a great way to escape and you never know who you’ll get to know through a love of the same thing.
6. Find a concert to go to. The most fun ones can be put on by artists you didn’t know existed and they can be found for little or no money at all.
7. Get in shape. It may not be the most fun but it passes time and helps you look and feel better.
8. Take advantage of the matinee show times at your local movie theater.
It may mean getting up earlier than you want, but it also
means seeing movies for cheaper than you’d usually pay and who doesn’t enjoy
saving money more than broke college students? Buying popcorn may actually be plausible if you save money on the ticket.
9. Take advantage of the city’s free events that they put on
There’s almost always something going on, especially if you live
in or near a big city.
10. Remember that hobby you always wanted to pick up?
What better time to start it than in the summer when you’ve got nothing but
time?
11. Volunteer somewhere.
This allows you to have fun and to do something meaningful at the same time.
12. Channel your inner Macklemore and hit the thrift stores.
13. Go swimming, of course.
14. Start doing the DIY projects that have been sitting on your Pinterest for over a year.
15. Don’t let summer storms rain on your parade.
a.Embrace the kid inside of you and stomp in the puddles.
b.Use the day to binge watch something on Netflix. Spend the day lounging around and feeling no regret since going outside seems like a bad idea.
While summer can seem like a huge, daunting stretch of free time, there are so many things out there that can make your summer one to remember. Get out there and try one!
