We're almost there, folks! With final exams in full swing, we're incredibly close to completing yet another year of school. Even if you're still taking classes or working full-time over the next few months of break, you can't deny that the beginning of summer always seems incredibly promising. However, this build-up sometimes brings great disappointment when August rolls around and people feel as if they didn't make the most of their time off. Even if you don't have any special plans for the summer, here's a few ways to make it a memorable one:
1. Attend local festivals.
With the weather heating up, there's bound to be at least one festival or event going on almost every weekend for the next few months. Find out what upcoming events are occurring near your area and make it a point to visit them, even if they sound completely lame. Who knows? You might have a good ol' time just trying something new with your friends and/or family, regardless of how fun the actual event is.
2. Take a trip somewhere.
Even though most of us are broke college kids, we still probably have enough money to take a day trip to the nearest big city or attraction. Traveling to a new place and exploring a city for a day can leave you with memories that last a lifetime. It may even give you an idea of where you'd potentially want to live after graduating from college.
3. Have a picnic with your friends.
Friends, food, and fresh air are the perfect trifecta for summer fun. With each person bringing a dish and everyone meeting up in a common area, there's no pressure for one person to host a party or spend a ton of money feeding everyone.
4. Take advantage of a nearby pool.
Taking a swim during a hot summer day is the perfect way to cool off and almost effortlessly get some exercise. It's also a great way to socialize with others and catch up on reading when you're soaking up the sun.
5. Relax and enjoy the moment.
Some of my favorite memories from previous summers are from seemingly uneventful days when I just sat back and enjoyed the moment. There's something magical about summer and the carefree attitude that comes with it. Embrace the moment and enjoy the feeling that comes with it, no matter what you're doing!
