The two comedy sisters and "SNL" alums, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made their return to the stage in New York this past Saturday night. In light of their recent movie "Sisters," these two queens of comedy reminded us exactly what we missed about them during their "SNL" days.
1. The return of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin:
Perhaps the most iconic political impersonations in the history of "Saturday Night Live" were Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton and Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. Amy joined the current Hillary impersonator, Kate McKinnon with as Sarah Palin in a dream sequence full of political allegory.
2. Bad blood music video parody:
With special guest star, Amy Schumer we saw Taylor Swift's version of #squadgoals redefined with this comic sequence full of laughs that had us falling off of our chairs.
3. Weekend update:
These two were the first women to co-anchor the iconic "Weekend Update" filled with one-liners about the week's latest happenings. Fey and Poehler joined Colin Jost and Michael Che in telling the last two jokes of the evening, and we were taken way back to their times as cast members.
4. Maya Rudolph back in "Bronx Beat:"
Also an "SNL" alum from what some may call the golden days, Maya Rudolph made an appearance with Amy Poehler and brought back the skit "Bronx Beat," only leaving us to hope that Kristen Wiig would also make an appearance.
Paul McCartney with sleigh bells
The weekend's musical guests were Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band but little did we know that the show would sign off its Christmas special with the band performing "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" with none other than Paul McCartney hopping on the stage with sleigh bells.
It's safe to say this year's Christmas special did not disappoint. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler ensured that SNL ended their year on a high note. We can only wait for more laughs from this iconic show once the new year rolls around.
