Warning: this post will contain spoilers of the show "The Office".
A few months ago I finished the amazing series “The Office”. I didn’t think I would like it at first but after finishing the series I realize it is one of the most well written TV shows I will ever watch. Each character has a purpose and a multidimensional personality that hooks the audience until the very last episode. Although all the characters on this show are extremely well written, I was always fascinated by Jim. Jim was one of the kindest character I had ever seen not only on this show, but on any other show that I had watched in the past. Here are a few reasons why:
1. His extreme amount of patience for Pam.

Jim had been in love with Pam since the beginning of the series, the only problem was that Pam had a fiancé. Jim did not give up, he waited for Pam and allowed her to do what was best for her in hopes that it would end up being him.
2. His thoughtfulness for the people he cares about.
When Jim finally gets Pam for the office's Secret Santa, he filled a tea kettle with things that were inside jokes between the two of them. Even though she tries to pawn it off for an old fashion iPad, it was the thought that counts.
3. The things he does to entertain the people around him.
Jim’s constant pranks, usually aimed at Dwight, are mainly for the entertainment of those around him. While he does enjoy the torment of his co-worker, he does them purposefully to get laughs out of Pam and the other workers around him.
4. How he puts others feelings above his own embarrassment.
Here Pam was upset because she accidentally ripped her veil on their wedding day. Jim saw her crying and upset so he pulled out scissors and cut his tie so that they would be even. So cute, I know.
5. The time that he takes to plan everything out perfectly.
Pam was upset about everything going wrong on their wedding day, so Jim takes her on a boat ride where they were able to get married without anyone bothering them. Later it is revealed that Jim bought the tickets weeks in advanced as a back-up plan.
6. How firm his priorities are.
Here Jim had made a list of things that mattered and things that did not. He tried to keep it to himself, but he accidentally dropped it and his wife found it on the floor. On the side that dictated things that mattered to him, he wrote “Pam, Cece, New Baby”. On the side of things that did not matter, he only wrote “everything else”.
7. And, last but not least, how he planned the best prank ever.
Dwight asked Jim to be his best man and moments before the wedding Jim said that he wasn’t able to be his best man anymore because of some rule he made up. Right as Dwight was about to go into shock, Michael, who wasn’t involved in the season at all, walks in and Jim announces that he would be the best man.
I could go on for hours about how well written this show was through the complexity of the characters. If you watch the show out of order you only scratch the surface of what there is to find. Every episode is filled with funny humor; whether it is Jim’s pranks or silly things that Michael say. But if you watch the series as a whole and begin to understand the thought process of each of the character, you will comprehend just how much thought and energy went into sculpting every character into the life that they became on the show.
