A Timely Letter to Myself. It is such a clever title, but it’s a much-needed piece. Mercedes, I know that your younger self-thought life would be different in your 20s. When you were 14 years old, being 24 seems so far fetch and a dawning sense of adulthood. However, life is not always at it appears.
I always thought that at 24 years old, my life would be completely different than it is right now. I’m not saying I haven’t had wonderful accomplishments to this day, but I wanted to achieve more. I always want to achieve more is like everything I do, all my achievements never actually satisfy my desire to be successful and reach my aspirations. Actually, the problem might just be that I have a multitude of desires, personal aspirations, and educational goals. My personality prevents me from enjoying the milestones for more than a month before I begin to ask myself “What goal should I achieve next?”. This part of my personality is really interesting. It can also be a sense of progress, movement, always striving to be better than I was yesterday, last month or even last year and accomplish more...I feel a great sense of obligation to always do more with this one life I have to Live.
So I say to Mercedes and to all the readers that resonate with these thoughts, take ownership of your life, write your goals down on paper so they can be attainable and real. Mercedes, always seek to grow mentally, yearn to gain more knowledge, and I hope you always have a burning desire for self-growth. It is crucial that you have a strong desire for personal growth because life is ever changing and you have to adapt to the new challenges that tomorrow will bring. I say to you my fellow readers, get up and take ownership of your life. Find your passions, seek to find what motivates and drives you, then seek to always grow while finding something to live for, do not just exist in this world that can easily just eat you alive. Make your dreams your current reality!
Mercedes don’t take the time to embrace your current situation and make sure to cherish the memories you are making right now. Do not worry about tomorrow, it is time to enjoy every moment especially your milestones and accomplishments. Don’t be so quick to move on to the next challenge but always enjoy your new experiences and the people you encounter along the way. This is a timely Letter to myself. Mercedes, enjoy every experience, as every person that you encounter changes who you are and the person that you will be tomorrow. Remember that life is about creating and making memories with loved ones, cherishing your best friends, encouraging your family to take vacations together, make traveling a priority, especially traveling to foreign countries, learning about various cultures, embracing similarities, and enjoy making connections with strangers, trying new food, and empowering others to liberate themselves from the shackles that have been choking the life out of them. It is imperative that we not only exist but that we live and embrace our passions which make life worth living. We only have One Life to Live. #Make it Count. #LiveOutYourDreams #DesiretoGainMemories
