As Christians, we grow up learning about Jesus everyday. It becomes habitual and ordinary. We expect it to the point where it's no longer special. Sometimes, it's not even meaningful. Because, even if we learn everything there is to know about Jesus (which is impossible), it's no use if we don't apply it. It's no use if we don't make a conscious effort to truly understand and comprehend the underlying meaning of our lives. We have to crave Jesus.
We live in a broken world. This makes it difficult to feel the need for a God. It's easy for us to think we can do it all on our own. It's easy to think we don't need any support. But that's a lie. If you're like me, you've tried to do this before. And it probably didn't work out. Something went wrong, and then everything came crashing down. Sound familiar? We're human, and sometimes we will fail, but we can't be discouraged by that. If we depend on God, we can get back up and try again with His help.
We live in a hectic world. Surrounded by technology and efficiency, we're trained to do everything at the speed of light. We're taught that faster is always better. But what if we slowed down just a bit? What if we took the time to get to know God on a personal level?
There are so many distractions and temptations around us. God's plan can become hazy when it's blocked by some worldly thing. That's what makes being a Christian so hard. But Christianity is a challenge. It's not supposed to be easy. If it were easy, there would be a whole lot more people following Christ.
Lately, I've been thinking about what God actually wants for me in the long run. Of course, I don't know His exact plan for my life but I know He has called me to some specific things and that's what I need to focus on. I've lost sight of that recently, and it's time to come back. Because what's important to me now, may not be important tomorrow, or ten years from now. It's all temporary. I can't put all of my energy into focusing on temporary things that make me happy now, because they won't be here forever. God will always be here, so my focus should be on Him, and Him alone.
All Christians have one similar mission. We have one common goal that we all work together to achieve and it's so simple. All we want to do is make the world a better place by spreading our love for Jesus. We know we can't fix this broken world completely, but we can make it a little more beautiful by sharing God's Word. Whether it's with a million people or just one, every transformation for God is a victory.
It's time to refocus on that mission. It doesn't matter how we do it, but it has to be our greatest goal in life. As hard as it seems, we must get past all of the distractions to reach that goal. Because in the end, it will all be worth it.
