There are articles upon articles written in support of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and for good reason: with a political system so deeply rooted in two-party traditions, there seems to be no viable solution. Mrs. Clinton did not take proper protective measures in her email privacy while traveling abroad, some emails containing classified information and has no problem with late-term abortions. Mr. Trump is a crass, rude man with no solid political background. We're caught between a rock and a hard place in voting for a president. Everything that makes me who I am -- a Christian, an American and just a man -- demands that I make a choice for our country's leadership. Because of this, I'm skipping out on Hillary and Donald. I'm voting third party.
To vote third party, one must understand the consequences. As I stated earlier, our nation has deep traditional roots with a two-party system. So many people are concerned not that their favorite person gets elected, but that their party gets elected. In fact, because of the "Not Trump" movement and the notion of keeping a Democrat in office, many Bernie supporters have shifted support to Hillary, even though they do not agree with her or her tactics. Trump garnered similar support after his Republican opponents dropped out of the race. Because of this tight support to party affiliation, a third party candidate is fighting an uphill battle. This candidate has to be in great graces with the public and garner enough support to stand a chance against Republicans or Democrats. It seems like a lost hope, but only if you take the stance that this is a last-ditch effort to save America. America still has a chance but only if we are daring to stand united during trying times in order to see through to successful times.
We need to make an investment. I'm going to invest in the third party system in order to break down the two-party tradition and get more viewpoints and opportunities from leaders within our nation. America successfully elected a third party president in 1860. Abraham Lincoln ran on a Republican ticket against the powerhouse Democratic and Whig parties. Our nation has brought in new parties that have seen success in the past, and it's time to try to repeat history. This helps fight against a monopolizing of our nation, in which people only have one or two choices, and neither choice is satisfactory. We as a nation need the opportunity to make a decision with as many possible choices as we can muster. I am fully aware that Mr. Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party and Mrs. Jill Stein of the Green Party will almost certainly lose this election, but I am willing to work toward progress and make a change in our country that we desperately need. If you too are undecided on where to turn for your vote, I encourage you to look into the third party systems and make progress in this country. Like in business, when the people have more choices, everyone benefits.
