A Time of Reflection

So the holidays have come and gone, unfortunately, what an exciting time it is for most people during the year, and we all love to spend time with our families. Now is time to move on to the New Year and to a whole new beginning for us, to move forward in our lives and progress. The end of the year always signifies a reflection of what has happened over the past year, showing that some of us are ready for the new year while others need to fix the wrongs of the past. We want to go into the new year with a clean slate, to become someone better to improve ourselves and to make some new and amazing memories. The end of the year is also the time to think about the great times in the past year, and the amazing people who made those times possible.

This year hasn't been easy for most people, as I have observed through different social medias and people ranting about their troubled lives. For me, I had a good year full of personal growth and a lot of realizations, where I found out who cares about me and what I have going for me. This summer was one of the better ones, I did a lot of fun activities with a bunch of friends. My family went on a fun vacation to Maine, where there were new places to visit and new experiences made in a state I never visited. I went to a concert in July and saw one of my favorite bands Panic! at the Disco with my best friends, I was absolutely in awe about the quality of the bands, as well as the fantastic weather that night. This summer I also had the opportunity to go to Six Flags twice and also the Jersey Shore for a nice weekend. There is nothing I can complain about this past summer, it was full of fun and laughter and so many new experiences I can not thank the people in my life enough.

There's another thing we don't do often, is thanking those who make our lives better and more thrilling every day. Whether this person or these people are family, friends, or just random strangers who became good friends, we need to thank them for all they do for us. I would not have had the great times this year if it wasn't for my wonderful family and my amazing friends that I have come to acquire. I would never replace any of them for anything, I can't imagine how my year would have been without them.

As much as this year seems to be never ending, and although there has been a lot of heartbreak, just know there's good in every bad just as much as there can be bad in every good. This year carries a lot of bad, but that doesn't mean there won't be a lot of good coming our way in 2017. We need to just relax and reflect, and hope for a great New Year!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
