It seemed like it was just yesterday when I wrote my review on "Chicago" at Park Playhouse in Albany. I was looking at my schedule for the rest of the summer, and I came to the realization that Chicago has one more week of its four-week run. For years I've known that the summer feels like the quickest time of the year for a lot of people. However, after all of these years, this summer seems to be the one where time passed by like the Road Runner.
You know the old saying "Time flies when you're having fun?" Well, time can also fly pretty quickly when you're kept busy instead of doing nothing throughout June, July and August. Now combine both of those and time can pass by in the blink of an eye. In other words, I'm one of the few individuals who actually enjoys their job. When I finished my freshman year at Le Moyne all I could think of was how exciting and memorable my summer was going to be. It freaks me out knowing that it's been two months since then. Now here we are, about three-quarters through the month of July noticing that I start school again in a little over a month.
However, as quickly as this summer is going for me, I've made so many great memories with friends old and new. How does one describe working at Park Playhouse? Well, for one thing. the people you come into contact with are some of the nicest and friendliest people that you will ever meet, not to mention that you get to watch a phenomenal show every single night for free.
Back in January, my winter break felt like an eternity because I didn't do a single thing except lay on my couch and binge watch "House of Cards." Even though I had a shorter amount of time off, it still felt like a long time before I went back to school.
It's the best feeling in the world when you have a job that you enjoy doing, I only wish everyone else could feel the same way about their job. To everyone out there who doesn't like the workplace that they're in, please consider looking for a job somewhere else. I want everyone to have positive feelings about their job. You need to enjoy what you're doing, or else you'll be miserable until you do.
Working all day until late at night can be very tiring, but it's worth it to help out a company that has treated you like family for the past few years. My job consists of spending time with my best friends, enjoying free theatre outside in beautiful weather, and helping expose others to the possibility of theatre. So you can see why I love what I do and how that can make the time pass just like that.
