Thanks to Lil Wayne, we now know that "femonal" is actually the correct spelling of "phenomenal."

Rap music has a pretty pad reputation for its generic beats, misogynistic and crude lyrics, and promotion of violence and drug use, but I'm here to tell you all the valuable lessons one can learn from this particular genre of music. From dating to finances, rap lyrics cover a wide variety of topics and can help guide you through any cloudy areas in your life. Read on to find out how you, too, can benefit from the vast wisdom rap music has to offer.

Finances

And you thought you were a broke college kid with no money to spare. Think again, because it turns out that simply listening to the great rappers of our age will make us all rich.

I took quarter water sold it in bottles for 2 bucks
Coca-Cola came and bought it for billions, what the f***?
Have a baby by me baby, be a millionaire
(50 Cent, I Get Money)

50 Cent is disgruntled over the fact that Coca-Cola is a global beverage giant, and he makes his point by ensuring that you can avoid similar feelings of discontent if you have a baby with him. Then you, too, will be a millionaire. How does this transfer into the life of us lowly college students, who probably will never meet him? Well, I can't be 100 percent sure of what goes on in the minds of geniuses like 50 Cent, but I think 50 is suggesting that getting knocked up by a rich man will solve all of your problems. Sounds logical to me.

Bustin' out the bando
A nigga jewelry real metal like a can opener
I went from rags to riches to a feature with Tip
(T.I., About The Money)

(Note: according to UrbanDictionary, a bando is an abandoned building typically located in the "hood" and used to sell narcotics out of, and/or to store illegal guns and money). Essentially, T.I.'s message is that anyone can become rich... but whatever you do, don't wear fake jewelry. You'll just look stupid if you wear fake jewelry in the bando.

Tens, fifties, and them hunnids
I ain't talkin' numbers bitch, I'm talkin' monaaay
(Chris Brown, Gettin' Money)

You heard it here first, folks: 10s, 50s, and 100s are much more than just a number. Remember that the next time you're trying to figure something out in math class.

Love

Some advice on how to improve your love life, told through the wise lyrics of these modern-day Romeos.

And I know it ain't as deep as it could be
Or as it would be but that's how it should be
Cause over time we gonna be fine like wine
(Big Sean, Love Story)

If you're not convinced that you and your significant other have a real connection, Big Sean says that's A-OK. Worried that it's not as deep as it could be or as it would be? Well, that's how it should be. "Deep" is overrated anyway. Keep it real shallow and your relationship will surely end up as perfect as a vintage Pinot Noir.

F**k love, give me diamonds
F**k love, give me diamonds
F**k love, give me diamonds
F**k love, give me diamonds
I'm already in love with myself
So in love with myself
(Iggy Azalea, F**k Love)

Ladies, this one is for you. Our girl Iggy keeps it short and to the point. Upset over some guy? Say f**k that and go buy yourself a diamond necklace. (Remember, no fake jewelry) If you've been following the advice of 50 Cent, T.I., and Chris Brown, this should be no problem for you.

Damn my nigga why you actin' like a bitch?
If you scared to take a chance, how the f*** we gon' get rich?
Come here baby why you always insecure?
Hold on tight to a nigga and be sure
(J Cole, Fire Squad)

Another one for the ladies. J Cole is a simple man with simple advice: don't be a b*tch, don't be insecure, and hold tight to your boyfriend. I can't wait to try this out! One wonders how women have survived thus far without J Cole's empowering messages to guide them.

Cause I just like to see you happy even when you faking it
So flagrant you foul ass bitch, man I hate you
I hope we can make up in the A.M
(Tyga, Love Game)

Gentlemen, if you're looking for a way to woo your girl, try one of Tyga's romantic one-liners: "So flagrant, you foul ass b*tch" gets me every time. Kylie is one lucky girl. *Sighs*

Social life

How to be cool: below.

My girl came through and brought an extra body
Now that is an after party for the after party
(2 Chainz, Yuck!)

Not sure what to bring to a party? 2 Chainz has the answer for you: a body. Alive? Dead? He's not specific, so just go with either/or. People eat that shit up.

I was a terror since the public school era
Bathroom passes, cuttin classes, squeezing asses
Smoking blunts was a daily routine
Since thirteen, a chubby nigga on the scene
(Notorious B.I.G., Party and Bullshit)

And some advice for the younger crowd! If you want to be a legend like Biggie, you'll have to start early--the earlier the better, in fact. Cut classes and squeeze asses all the way to high school popularity.

Swimmin’ laps around a bottle of Louie the Thirteenth
Jumpin’ off of a mountain, into a sea of codeine
I’m at the top of the top, but still I climb
And if I should ever fall, the ground will then turn to wine
(Lil Wayne, I Feel Like Dying)

Those are some inspiring metaphors, am I right?! Leave it to Wayne to get all poetic on us. If you've been reading thus far, you're already on your way to riches via the "Finances" section, so buying a $1,000 bottle of Louis the Thirteenth cognac will be chump change. Don't forget to mix it with codeine (available at your local bando).

So you see, folks, all that stuff about rap music being "unintelligent" and "inappropriate for children" is a bunch of hogwash. In fact, you should take rap lyrics as literally as you possibly can, play it for your kids, and abandon listening to all other genres of music.

I'll leave off with a particularly astute 2 Chainz quote to motivate you to begin your journey as someone who appreciates the true depth of rap music:

She got a big booty so I call her Big Booty.

Amazing.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
