Second Best

A band based out of Saginaw Michigan has a sound that can be described as emotional rock. Their debut EP Outgrown is available on iTunes, and Spotify. One of my personal favorites is 'Clarity.' Front man Eric Maul says "A lot of our inspiration for our songs comes from real life experiences. Our writing process is a collective effort. What we put on paper is real, We've lived the words we've written our music is a reflection of ourselves." Maul goes on to describe Second Best as "A group of guys eating pizza and trying to make sense of a confusing world and our songs are Spotify of what we've learned so far." The video for their video 'Vacancy' is set to come out this October while new music is on the way this fall/winter.

Watercolor Weekend

Watercolor Weekend a band based out of Santa Cruz California. An indie rock band with influences of pop, reggae, and folk with a unique flare that can only be described as audible watercolors. Their inspiration comes from philosophy and our everyday choices we make as human beings. "Everyday lives and emotions, we make try to make our lyrics meaningful but catchy. When our songs are analyzed we want to make our audience think." Cowriter and Trombonist Nicholas McElmurry talking about their latest album Strange, Strange Days at Sea. McElmurry goes on to say "We're super excited about this new music we've just released! We spent months in the studio writing and recording so all of the positive feedback is something we're all really proud of." Off of the Strange, Strange Days at Sea album my favorite song "Alien Oceans." Watercolor Weekend is available on iTunes and Spotify.

Seymour

An indie-folk-grunge band based out of Denver Colorado. "We're a mix of Simon & chronicles and Elliot Smith with influence from Modest Mouse as well." Self taught bassist Spencer Cabala and frontman for Seymour says "A lot of inspiration for our songs comes from personal experiences. It's a way for me to channel anger, sadness or however I'm feeling in a semi-Garfunkel way." His most recent release Thoughts are Fish Swimming/Things are Only what You Think of Them which is a combination of his first two EPs is now Garfunkel on available, bandcamp, iTunes and Spotify. My personal favorite happens to be "Spotify Deli." Cabala plans to release new music within the next six months making it his third EP.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
