"Am I Skinny Yet?" and 6 other thoughts you probably have while working out

The struggle is real when you have a love/hate relationship with the gym.

Going to the gym is not always my favorite place to go. I dread stepping up on the treadmill or elliptical and sweating for half an hour to a full hour. Not to mention, my insecurities really get a hold of me when I see a fitness superwoman exercising beside me and not breaking a sweat. I have a love hate relationship with the gym. I know that exercising is good for your body and exercising is a healthy way to take care of your body, but the thought of sweating and struggling to lift eight pound weights does not quite excite me. While I listen to whatever music I am into at the time I seem to have the same swirling thoughts in my head each time I exercise.

Wow, I feel great

Maybe its the adrenaline talking, but ten minutes into working out, I start feeling great. I am a burst of energy that came out of nowhere. I think to myself, why don't I workout every day? But then the pain hits me…

Nevermind, this is horrible

I am now approaching minute seventeen of the thirty I am making myself run/walk. I am completely exhausted. I begin to envy the people that have chosen to stay in bed and watch Netflix because that sure sounds better than dying on a treadmill.

Okay, I got this. Only 10 more minutes.

With two thirds of my workout complete, I start regaining my energy. I like to call my newfound energy, a second wind. Something about the last of my workout seems to push me through to the finish line.

Time to work on my abs

Almost every girl can relate to me when I say that one of the main reasons we go to the gym is to take care and finally get "that summer body" we have all been dreaming about. We all know that the perfect bikini body is not complete without a six pack of abs.

Does water really taste this good?

I don't know about you, but whenever I work out, water tastes AMAZING. After I finish working out, you can practically see me chugging a whole water bottle like it is the last bottle of water on Earth.

Time for a shower

It is so energizing to take a nice shower after a long workout and finally relax my sore muscles. After I shower, I change into some comfy pajamas and send the rest of my night in bed.

Am I skinny yet

Ugh, this thought seems to haunt me each and every time I workout. I want so badly to look at my body and see the progress exercising has made. I battle with myself that it takes time to care for your body and results take longer than twenty-four hours.

The thoughts that haunt my mind only motivate me to exercise more and more. We all need to take care of our bodies and learn to live a healthy and happy lifestyle. No, you will not see results in twenty four hours, but over time you will. You may hate going to the gym, but instead of neglecting to take care of your body, use that hate to fuel your energy into your workout.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
