Dear Freshmen Year,

I can't believe how fast you are coming to an end! Right it is now April and I have approximately 5 weeks till the semester is over.

As this semester is coming towards the end, you tend to reflect on who you were was as a person last year during your senior year of high school and now. As a senior year in high school during these months you are stressed because you do not know which college to chose from or what to do with your life after high school. You are constantly asking yourself these questions about life and scared of the future holds, which is perfectly normal. However the greatest part about taking risks or going to unknown areas is the adventure where experiences begin to blossom.

Meanwhile in college, adulthood has come knocking on your door and you have slowly learned to become more independent of yourself. The new experiences such as late night partying, meeting new people, classes, and leaving home were the fears you once had during your senior year. However, once you have become accustomed to those changes, now you wonder what else is in store for your future? You realize as a freshmen in college that if you want to be successful at whatever your pursing, you have to put in the hard work and dedication to school. You need to pin point what your going to be doing for the next 3 years and try new things out.

You are no longer afraid, you are just trying to find your passion and who you are as an individual. It is a a self-discovery phase where there might have been some loss and gains, but that's life. You are still learning what the real world is like and trying to fit in. It is not like being in high school where there are regulations and schedules laid out for you. You realize that THIS IS YOUR LIFE and NEED TO MAKE THE BEST OF IT!

To all of my freshmen college students out there, hang on the ride is almost over for now. If this year was not your best overall, trying considering new methods to achieve your goals or ambitions. Try to find the sense of your purpose and what you love to do in college and the rest will unfold. Book a ticket and explore the world, AND TAKE RISKS!

Good luck on upcoming finals, essays, projects etc! :) Time surely does pass by and with this one year down, we have three more to go!Let's go class of 2020!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
