It’s the day that college kids have anticipated since move in day. No, it's not graduation day or Spring Break. It’s not Ring Day or anyone’s 21st birthday. No, it’s Thanksgiving, the day we can forget about all of the dorm food and failed concoctions that we ate all semester and drown in a sea of homemade goodness. But, with all of this delicious food comes all of the questions from family members that we must strategically navigate through in order to have a smooth sailing holiday. So, here are some thoughts that you will inevitably have this Thanksgiving.
This is way better than anything on my meal plan. So much food and nothing was made in a dorm microwave. #Blessed.
Alright time to eat, maybe if I just keep chewing they won’t ask me any questions. But, the whole family is looking at me, so here we go.
Oh how’s college? Well, I have the urge to drop out every day and move to a secluded island, but other than that it’s great.
Please don’t ask about my grades. D’s get degrees, grandma. I’m doing fine.
Did she just ask me if I’m sure I should be eating all of this? I’ve lived off of Hot Pockets and Poptarts for the last three months. Let me live.
Okay, the conversation is on my cousin, time for a break. You know, family time isn’t that bad. And the mashed potatoes are the bomb.
Now as long as no one asks about my—“So, how’s your love life?” Well, frankly, it’s about as dead as this turkey that we’re eating. But thanks for rubbing salt in the wound.
No grandma, I don’t need you to hook me up with your friend’s grandkid. It’s awesome that they’re going to be a doctor but I don’t want to go on a date with him. Thanks, but no thanks.

Oh no, now they want to talk politics. Must resist the urge to correct all of these problematic statements.
Who am I going to vote for? I don’t even know what I’m doing tomorrow.
Where’s the wine?
Oh, what am I going to do with my life? Wing it. And cry. Mostly cry.
Time for dessert. The Ben & Jerry’s eaten alone in my dorm is nothing compared to this.
I wonder how many bowls of leftovers I can fit in my minifridge.
Although the questions are pretty intrusive, I’m thankful for a family that cares.
And the food was amazing, time to go into a food coma.
