1. Okay, I only need peanut butter, milk, and bread. I’ll grab a basket…well, maybe I’ll get a cart. They’re on wheels and are therefore easier to shop with, right? Let’s stick to the mission. I just need three things. Don’t get distracted this time.
2. Oh, I should probably get some fruit though. These strawberries look super fresh and delicious. Fruit is healthy, so the purchase would be acceptable. Well, if I get fruit, I should probably get some veggies, too. I have to even it out; plus, I need my daily dose of vegetables.
3. No more distractions or impulse buys, just stick to the list. Where on earth is the bread isle? I’ll just walk down all of the aisles until I find it. Good plan.
4. Is that Easy Mac? I haven’t had this since I was a kid! I wonder if it still tastes the same. I should get some to relive my childhood, just this one time.
5. Wow, does everyone go to Target at the same time? I feel like half of the city is here right now. Is there a special sale going on today, or is it usually this busy? It must be prime shopping hour right now.
6. Okay, here’s the bread isle. Finally! Got the bread, now on to peanut butter. That’s in the next isle...hopefully. Peanut butter: check. Oh, they have Nutella. That stuff is good! Maybe I’ll just get a small jar. It’s been a while since I’ve had it. I think I deserve a small treat.
7. Well, if I get peanut butter, maybe I should get some jelly, too…or jam. What is the difference between jelly and jam anyway? They taste the same to me! Okay, enough with the distractions, we just need to get milk and we’re done.
8. Is that brownie mix I spy on the end cap? I’m a great baker. I should bake some for the guys at work…and keep some for myself. It’s been a rough week. I deserve to treat myself.
9. Okay, just need milk. I see the milk. I am walking towards the milk. I got the milk. I have conquered my mission. Well, now I’m at the back of the store. I’ll take the long way around and check out the 5-dollar movies. They might have some good ones this time.
10. Oh hey, I haven’t seen this movie but I’ve heard it was good. It’s 5 dollars, that’s affordable. I’ll have a movie night tonight with my roommates. They’ll love it!
11. I just have to make it to the front of the store now to check out and I’ll be good. No more distractions. Focus!
12. Well, maybe I should look at the clothes. They have such cute stuff lately and I could probably use a few more staple items in my wardrobe. I’ll just take a quick peek. I can’t go too wild.
13. I wouldn’t say I went wild, but I just couldn’t decide between getting the dressy shirt, the summery dress, or the sweater. They’re decently priced anyway, so it’s justifiable.
14. Okay, I see the checkout line. I’m walking towards the checkout line. I need to focus on making it there without getting anything else. Where is the short line? Is there even such a thing as a short line? Well, there’s the express lane. 15 items or less? I have more than that now. Shoot! I’ll just have to wait.
15. Oh look, Cosmo! And I don’t have this one yet. This can count as reading, right? I should get it. It might have some good tips in it and I only get them once a month anyway. What’s a few extra dollars for my favorite magazine, am I right?
16. Ugh, I’m so thirsty…and a little hungry. Shopping really wears me out these days. I’ll grab a water and it looks like they have Cheetos, my favorite! It’s a good afternoon snack.
17. Wow, I did buy a lot today. All I meant to buy was 3 things and now I spent $65. Oh well! I bought way more than I expected, but it’s okay because I’ll use it all and sometimes I just need to treat myself with a few impulse buys. Though, this does happen almost every time I come here. Target, you won again!
