I put off watching "The Bachelor" for about as long as I could. My friends watched it, and it is one of my cousin's favorite shows. I just couldn't understand how they could spend two hours every Monday night in front of the TV watching a show about a man who goes on multiple dates and find that entertaining, and then, I somehow ended up joining them.
I began watching basically out of support for a friend who is a die-hard fan of the show. That was a mistake. I figured, oh, you know, sit in front of the TV, do some homework, and not really focus on or care about it. I thought that it would just be background noise, and that that's all it would be.
But it sucks you in.
Before I knew it, here I was, rooting on the teacher and begging Ben to send Olivia home. I had this gut feeling that Jubilee and Ben just weren't meant for each other and Caila probably had some ulterior motive. And while I was figuring all of this out, there was always the constant wonder of who was going to get a rose and who was going to go home.
What was wrong with me?
I am not supposed to be supporting this show. It's saddening that these men and women go on this show and think that they will find "love" on this show. Hey, if my life for a couple months was one constant vacation, I think I could convince myself of that, but sadly, I live in the real world with the rest of society.
I do find "The Bachelor" extremely entertaining, and also, at times, cringe-worthy. Some things that the participants do tend to make me stare at the TV in disbelief, and all I can say is "You've got to be kidding me." So many times I just ask myself why. These women have great professions and a lot going for them, and somehow, they end up on this show? Why? I wish I knew the answer.
This show is extremely entertaining and makes for a great time with me and my friends. Now, on a side note, JoJo's brothers? Now, what they had to say just made my day. The fact that they had the guts to speak out and that it was filmed on TV was amazing. But once again, there is no way that ABC can claim this show to be reality, because there is nothing real about it. It is more like a comedy than anything. It lightens my mood as I realize that, yes, I am quite normal compared to the people on this show. So while I will be watching this show and getting a great kick out of the craziness that is "The Bachelor," that's all that it will be. As my first season comes to an end, yes, I probably will be watching the next season.
One last thing... Ben's a psycho. The man has crazy eyes. All of those women are too good for him.
