It’s that time of year again where even those brave souls who walk to class every day begin riding the campus bus due to the weather is getting colder and uglier. With crammed buses around the clock all day, you’re bound to see some familiar faces and crazy characters. Here are some thoughts you may have this winter while taking a trip on the campus bus.
1. OK, there are so many people coughing around me and I have too much going on I cannot get sick.
2. It's 7:40 a.m. and you're on the bus contemplating why you thought it wasn't a bad idea to take an 8 a.m. class.
3. The bus driver keeps yelling to move back even though the bus is clearly as packed tight as possible and probably exceeding the capacity limit.
4. The girl next to you is trying to have awkward casual conversation with you but you're to tired for that nut you also don't want to be mean.
5. At the next stop a really cute guy gets on and stands next you and you just want to be like "It's OK, you can talk to me."
6. Then there are those girls who are talking so loud about their wild night out last night that you can't even drown them out with your headphones and you just want to yell at them to tone it down.
7. When the bus is running over five minutes late but if you wait any longer instead of walking, you'll be late for class.
8. In the midst of JB music blaring from your headphones you go into deep thought and wonder how time went by so fast and how old you really are.
9. You make it just in time to watch the bus drive off without you and don't know what to do with yourself.
10. You really don't want to touch anyone and you're silently begging for no one to sit by you.
11. The amount of people waiting for the bus is more than the number of seats, but it doesn't matter how many people you have to push down or push past, you are not standing.
12. The person across from you is in your math class and you keep making awkward eye contact the entire ride.
13. Some kid tries to argue with the bus driver over throwing away his drink even though it's clearly posted everywhere and it's been a rule for years.
I mean, c'mon man, you're going to make us all late for class.
14. You know you're on the wrong bus but you stay on praying it goes back to your dorm even when chances of that are slim.
So, good luck pushing people down to grab a seat and avoiding awkward small talk on the ride up the hill to class during the busy season. If you really can't handle the bus, you could always just walk. Who am I kidding? You'll never do that.
